Sony has made its decision regarding the long-awaited Horizon Zero Dawn series. Under the name PlayStation Productions, the company is simultaneously developing multiple TV series and cinema projects.
While series like Twisted Metal and The Last of Us are gearing up for their second seasons, efforts are also accelerating for films like Ghost of Tsushima and Uncharted 2. However, Sony has bad news for gamers and series fans regarding Horizon Zero Dawn.
The Horizon Zero Dawn series has been shelved for now!
PlayStation Productions continues to adapt popular video games for the television and cinema world. While series like Twisted Metal and The Last of Us prepare for their second seasons, Ghost of Tsushima and Uncharted 2 films are in development. However, Netflix’s adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn, one of the company’s major projects, has been shelved by Sony for now.
Successful post-apocalyptic game adaptations like The Last of Us and Fallout had raised high expectations for the Horizon series. However, following allegations of a toxic work environment and mobbing on the set of his previous project The Umbrella Academy, Steve Blackman, who was overseeing the project, has indefinitely suspended Horizon Zero Dawn.
This development has caused a stir for both Netflix and PlayStation Productions. As Netflix approaches the end of series like Stranger Things and The Witcher and searches for new brands, PlayStation Productions had also been planning to shoot the God of War adaptation for Amazon Prime Video.
In this sense, things haven’t been going well for Sony PlayStation Productions recently. Let’s see how the renowned company will resolve the Horizon crisis. What are your thoughts on this matter? Don’t forget to share your opinions with us in the comments section.
